Vinification notes: Fruit from our Lily Hill estate was destemmed and crushed before undergoing a 10-day fermentation in a submerged cap tank. Pumpovers were performed twice daily. Aging occurred for 14 months in a combination of French and American oak.
Sensory Notes: This classic zinfandel exhibits a bright bouquet of ripe red fruit and spice. A medium body and well-balanced acid make it a perfect accompaniment to a meal, and its finish of rhubarb and berry make it a wonderful cocktail wine as well.
Vineyard Notes: This wine is a combination of several younger blocks of zinfandel and a small amount of syrah from our Lily Hill Estate. These hillside vines benefit from the hot days and rich clay-heavy soil that the Dry Creek Valley is known for.
Vintage Synopsis: In 2007 we experienced a steady summer of warm days and cool, foggy nights, ideal growing conditions for top-notch winegrapes. 2007 wines have excellent concentration with full but soft tannins. The vintage balances power and finesse and is perhaps the best year in Sonoma County in the last decade.
Cellar Recommendations: Drink between 2009 and 2014
