Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 91 points
This wine is maturing gracefully. Although still a young Cabernet, it offers gorgeously complex scents of tobacco, cassis, and smoke. Medium to full-bodied, with beautifully integrated tannin and acidity, this concentrated, velvety-textured, expansive, chewy Cabernet reveals no hard edges, and a long, smooth finish. I imagine this well-balanced wine will continue to drink well for another 12-20 years.

Supple and harmonious, this wine is drinking well now--the tannins are softening and the core of herb, currant and berry flavor is developing complexity and finesse. Avoids the drying tannins of many from this vintage. Ready now, but worthy of cellaring into 1999 or 2000.--1986 California Cabernet horizontal. 1,800 cases made.
