Just like in 2001, they finished harvest on September 28th in 2000. Seeing very little destemming and just about all Grenache (there's normally a splash of Syrah), the 2000 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is more mature than the 2001 and offers classic notes of spice, tobacco, currants, fig and dried earth. Beautiful on the palate, with good purity and freshness, it is ready to go and I think best enjoyed over the coming 4-5 years, although I've no doubt well stored bottles will keep longer.
