    OFF-THE-CHARTS NEW VINTAGE FROM
    DUNN’S HOWELL MOUNTAIN

“Randy Dunn’s Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon needs no introduction – it is ‘old-school’ and consistently superb. It’s considered one of Napa’s collectible ‘All-Stars’ – year in, year out, it’s an outstanding cab. The stellar 2013 vintage will be especially sought after…” – Glen Knight, Wine House (2/14/17)

“The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is a towering majestic wine.” – Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Vintner’s Harvest Notes from Randy & Mike Dunn: “In 2013, Mother Nature hit it out-of-the-park! Not only was the crop abundant in a drought period, it was also of stellar quality! Early and warm, no weather issues, and really ideal growing conditions. Our first pick was September 12th and our last was October 14th, which is sometimes when we just get started to pick. The resulting wine is ‘yuuuuge’, a vintage meant for the long haul with abundant fruit as well as tannins and balanced acidity. We were on the picks early so nothing got too high in sugar, yet it was a balancing act in the cellar with so much fruit coming in. In fact, our caves are designed for barrels to be stacked two-high but in ’13 we had to go three high, leading Mike to question his sanity and pull out what is left of his hair. Mike hired a buddy to help him out part time in ’13 just to process the fruit. It will mostly likely be called a Great Vintage by the press and will stand the test of time but also has early approachability. The Howell Mountain has the edge of tannins and heft, but is also showing some early finesse.”

    ABOUT DUNN
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” and for Randy the beauty was Howell Mountain. In 1979, Randy and his wife Lori moved with their son Mike into a home on the outskirts of the quiet town of Angwin. While the valley floor inspired farmers to plant vineyards and make wine, Howell Mountain captured Randy’s heart. From these mountain vineyards the Dunn family made its mark on the wine industry and the land in turn made its mark on the family.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 95-97 points

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain boasts an opaque color, abundant notes of blackberries, spring flowers, and blueberries, fabulous richness and a distinctive, singular smell of pen ink. With great intensity, formidable body, sweet tannin and a long finish, it should drink well for 25+ years.

he 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is a towering majestic wine. Rich, powerful and yet massively tannic, the 2013 possesses a stunning combination of super-ripe fruit, bright acids and plenty of supporting structure. In the early going, the Howell Mountain is a bit reticent, especially next to the Trailer, but after several hours, the vibrancy of the Howell Mountain bottling dazzles. Dunn's Howell Mountain Cabernet is without question one of the wines of the great 2013 vintage.
