Wine Spectator: 93 points
Nice concentration of fruit and oak complexity. Medium-bodied, with blackberries and toasted and smoky notes. Plenty of toasted oak and chocolate on the finish, which kicks in with fresh acidity. Well-made. Drink now through 2009. ?PM

Saturated ruby-red, the darkest of these '99s. Knockout nose of black raspberry, violet, minerals and spices complex and vibrant. Large-scaled but fine, with lovely verve and lift. A wine with great energy and spine, but also silkier than the other '99s at this address. Tannins are ripe and quite fine. Offers a real whiplash of a finish, with subtle notes of berries and gunflint saturating the palate.
