    Product Description

“These two Serpico wines, harvested in part from pre-phylloxera vines from the commune of Taurasi in Campania, are from 40-70 year old vines that are grown between 1150 – 1300 ft above sea level at a south/west exposure, with deep soil composed of ash from Mt. Vesuvius. I have been enjoying some of the brilliant 2001 Serpico (rated 98 points by Daniel Thomases, formerly of Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate) recently and it stands the test of time: Aglianico is a wonderful aging wine, a testament that the 2010 will only improve in the cellar. The 2010 Serpico was rated 95+ points by Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, and we’re offering these two vintages at a significant discount from the Release Price! Supply is limited, so don’t hesitate!” – Lance Montalto, The Wine House (9/15/17)

Feudi di San Gregorio, a modern expression of a centuries-old tradition of passion and dedication to the land, is Campania’s premier winemaking estate. Situated in the tiny village of Sorbo Serpico in Campania’s Irpinia region, this highly-acclaimed winery was established in 1986. Since then, it has aggressively tapped into the enormous potential of Campania’s unique terroir and ancient varieties. The estate proprietors have pinpointed the region’s finest vineyards and work closely with consulting enologist Riccardo Cotarella, one of Italy’s most esteemed winemaking talents. The results have been remarkable – the wines of Feudi di San Gregorio have met time and again with stellar reviews and continue to garner international critical acclaim.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 95 points

The outstanding 2010 Irpinia Aglianico Serpico is Aglianico from a pre-phylloxera vineyard that sees 18 months of medium toast oak. This vintage reveals an impressive sense of balance and inner harmony with dark fruit tones that are enhanced by bright accents of cherry and dried blueberry. Extra focus and intensity is achieved thanks to the dusty mineral shadings that give pretty contours to the plump fruit. There are distant endnotes of crushed white pepper as well. The tannins offer both firmness and texture. This is a beautiful expression of Aglianico. Drink: 2016 - 2035 - Monica Larner
