The 2011 Alguiera Escalada is pure Godello grown on slate soils and sees fermentation on the lees in French oak over six months. It has a ripe, generous bouquet with caramelized pear, orange blossom and flint that shows clarity and brightness. The palate is supremely well-balanced, showing a little puppy fat on the entry and a suggestion of clear honey mingling with orange zest, papaya and sour lemon. The finish is very well-balanced and brimming over with character. This is outstanding. Drink now-2018.
