Vinous: 92 points
(all pais, much of it reportedly planted on its own 300+-year-old roots): Deep red. A heady, exotically perfumed bouquet evokes candied red fruits, incense and potpourri, with smoke and mineral notes building in the glass. The palate offers spicy, penetrating redcurrant and bitter cherry flavors and a touch of rose pastille, along with a subtle licorice quality. Sweeter and broader on the finish, which is firmed by dusty, fine-grained tannins.
