Product Description
Chianti Superiore is a fairly new designation in Tuscany that relates to the production requirements as opposed to the place of origin like Chianti Classico (although they do still need to be from Chianti). Superiore wines must be aged for at least a year prior to release, 9 months of which must be in barrel. This one from Olivi is an 85/15 blend of Sangiovese and Merlot.
The nose features a faint hint of clove hay, with bright red fruits and plum.
On the palate there is a lifted, supple cherry fruit on the palate with fine grained tannins resulting in a plush mouthfeel with a tight mineral finish. Charming wine that will drink well with food between now and 2017.
