Winery Notes: The 2014 Tinto Roberto syrah from the Larner Vineyard is a perfect display of the character of an Hermitage clone of syrah grapes sustainably grown in Ballard canyon in the Santa Ynez Valley. 2014 was a terrific year for the production of wines made to age for the long haul. High acidity and low yields created wines of both finess and power with great concentration, yet elegant aromas and depth on the palate. Fermented using native yeast in stainless steel tanks for primary fermentation, then transferred to neutral oak barrels for secondary fermentation, the wonderful fruit grown at Larner Vineyards by Michael and Christine Larner takes center stage in an elegant wine built for grilled meats and cheese.
