    Product Description

    From the Winery:

The story of Ribolla Gialla is wrapped in the scents of the Mediterranean. Borne by waves from the island of Cephalonia, the ribolla gialla grape found a home in the hills of Friuli. It was mentioned as long ago as the 12th century and praised by German chroniclers in the 14th. Ribolla Gialla wine has always had a special place in the viticulture of eastern Friuli, where it is part and parcel of the history of empires, peoples and places.
Vibrant, sun-ripe and characteristically fresh on entry, Ribolla Gialla offers marked minerality complementing notes of broom as it tempts the palate with notes of citrus.
Castello di Buttrio is owned and run by the delightful Alessandra Felluga, whose family are grandees of the Friuli region. This impeccable property is located in the heart of the Colli Orientali not far from Udine. Following the acquisition of the Castello di Buttrio estate in 1994, Alessandra worked with her father, Marco Felluga, initially making premium red wines in the steep hills surrounding the estate. A restoration and expansion project has taken place over the past ten years and Castello di Buttrio now comprises the nearby Dorigo vineyards as well.

A variety of indigenous and international varieties are grown on 26 hectares including Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pignolo, Refosco and Verduzo. Discover these elegant, distinctive wines which offer superb value for money.
