TASTING NOTES: Light pink and salmon-colored, we made our wine with Provence in mind. Fresh, aromatic and enticing aromas of strawberry, cranberry and ripe pear fill the glass. Lightweight in the mouth with waves of flavor roll across the palate. A nice touch of acidity on palate give the wine a long, crisp finish.
NEW BLEND AND NEW PACKAGING: The Isabel Mondavi Rosé has new packaging and a new blend for 2016! The family is keeping Cabernet as the primary grape, but with Barbera and a touch of Muscat. The family’s roots in California winemaking is a story about Cabernet. Always Cabernet. Cabernet has been the flagship varietal for the family throughout the generations. Cabernet is a flavor powerhouse, complex and elegant. The Barbera is a nod to their Italian heritage, bringing nice acidity and fruit to the blend. Finally, the touch of Muscat brings some great aromatics to the wine.
With the new blend comes dramatic new packaging in terms of bottle shape, labeling and closure. The bottle shape is inspired by a classic perfume bottle, and the bottles are permanently printed at Monvera in the former Ford Assembly plant in Richmond. To communicate the freshness of the wine through its packaging, the open print and label information are silkscreened directly on the bottle. The bottle is finished with a beautiful glass closure. A glass stopper is elegant and timeless – this wine is delicious and the bottle is beautiful. They encourage people to keep the bottle for a water carafe – the closure will seal a few hundred times and the print cannot come off with a razor blade!
From the Winery:
Our Cabernet Sauvignon and Barbera grapes were harvested at the optimum maturity to capture the bright fruit flavors while retaining fresh acidity. We made this wine with the Provence style in mind while being true to its California roots and Italian family heritage. Finally, we added just a touch of Muscat for the aromas to round out the blend.
