It’s no secret that we are fans of Rioja – we have been offering wines from Spain’s first Denominación de Origen Calificada (DOCa) for decades. The wines are a great value, and there is a sense of tradition and history in every glass. Many of the vineyards have been cultivated and owned by the same families for generations.The biodiversity is unreal. Packed into a region about the size of Napa and Sonoma, you find 8 rivers, 3 major mountain ranges, mixed agriculture, a thriving wool industry, the most tapas bars in one square mile, dinosaur fossils and a still-traveled pilgrimage route dating back to the Middle Ages.
