Wine Spectator: 92 points
Intense and flavorful, with rich black cherry, wild berry and rose petal flavors that run deep and linger. Drink now through 2006. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine: 90 points
Suggestions of candied cherries are juxtaposed with rich, well-stated toastiness in ample aromas that show the clear effects of champenization, and the wine's flavors follow suit with a sense of red-wine vinosity, a fine and frothy mousse and a proper trim of yeast. The wine drifts to acidy tartness at the finish, however, and winds up a little stiff in feel.
