A new offering, the 2007 Zinfandel Fredericks Vineyard, is super. Old hillside, dry-farmed vines have produced a deep ruby/purple-tinged 2007 displaying sweet black currant and black cherry notes intermixed with notions of new saddle leather, forest floor, pepper, and spice. Full-bodied, gorgeously textured, long, heady, and rich, this should turn out to be a provocative Zin for drinking over the next decade.

Full medium ruby. Crushed dark berries on the exotic, liqueur-like nose. Lush on entry, then fat and sweet in the middle, with an exotic suggestion of fruit salad. A big, solid, youthfully aggressive zinfandel whose big, building tannins currently cut off the fruit. This represents Turley's first vineyard-designated release from these 85-year-old vines this fruit was declassified into the Old Vines zin in 2006 and 2005. Less complex than the best of these 2007s but a big boy at 16.6% alcohol.
