"Opaque ruby. Sexy, spice-accented dark berries and pungent flowers on the deeply perfumed nose. Offers appealingly sweet black and blue fruit flavors that become livelier and pick up a hint of spicecake with air. Woodsmoke and mocha qualities come up on the impressively long, penetrating finish, which features supple tannins and a strong echo of sappy blue fruit. (aged for a year in new and used French oak barrels)" - Josh Raynolds

"The 2016 La Atalaya del Camino is a blend of Garnacha Tintorera with some 15% Monastrell from dry-farmed, head-pruned vines planted on limestone soils and averaging 45 years of age. It fermented in stainless steel and matured in French barrique for 12 months. It has a mixture of berry fruit and spicy aromas, a little less expressive than the 2015 I tasted last time. It has some dusty tannins and dark berry flavors. It needs powerful food. 54,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2018." - Luis Gutierrez
