“Luigi Maffini's wines communicate the artisanal spirit of its owners, the purity of Campania’s native varieties and tremendous value to the end consumer. The winery makes the most of old family vineyards in Castellabate, near the sea, and locations in the northern hills of Giungano, to produce a portfolio of racy, radiant wines packed full of character. The Pietraincatenata and Cenito are perfect examples of the heights that can be reached in Cilento. Both compete with the top wines of the region, while the Kleos (Aglianico) and Kratos (Fiano) show a tremendous level of depth and varietal character at highly attractive price points. “The 2021 Fiano Pietraincatenata takes things to a whole new level. A mesmerizing blend of grapefruit, lime zest and peach finds a beautiful balance through a whiff of sweet smoke as this warms in the glass. It's silky upon entry yet salty to the core. An intense burst of citrus and minerals complicates its green apple fruit. The 2021 lingers incredibly long, full of tension and invigorating, yet still aching for the cellar. The 2021 is simply gorgeous today, yet still a youngster. Lose a few in the cellar and reap the rewards. Luigi Maffini knocked this one out of the park. Drinking Window 2025-2031." – Eric Guido
