“The dark purple 2022 Syrah Eddie's Patch comes from south-facing slopes along the Mayacamas on red soils and offers notes of blackberries, candied lavender, olive, and a light gamey, ripe feel. Meaty on the palate, it delivers ripe tannins that build a touch on the finish, and it has a more grounded feel, although it does keep freshness. It is going to show its best over the next 10-12 years. It needs a little time in bottle to open, but it would be a killer with steak. Drink 2026-2037.” – Audrey Frick

“The 2022 Syrah Eddie's Patch was harvested on September 6, just after the Labor Day heat wave began, and although it's a powerful expression, the Eddie's Syrah retains elegance and should be long lived in the cellar. The nose offers cassis, blueberry and violet, and it has a wildness lent by smoky, sanguine undertones reminiscent of beef cooking over a fire. The full-bodied palate is bold but pretty with layer after layer of dark, floral fruit. It's structured by powdery tannins and fireworks of fresh acidity, and it has a long, pure finish. Just 340 cases were made.” – Erin Brooks
