1996 Vietti Barolo Brunate

The 1996 Barolo Brunate is just beginning to show the first signs of tertiary aromatic complexity. Scorched earth, tobacco, leather, smoke and black cherry take on dark shades of expression. Time in the glass brings out some of the wine's brighter, more lifted qualities. Even so, the 1996 is clearly the product of a very different era, both in Piedmont and at Vietti.
