2004 Chateau Montrose Saint Estephe

Wonderful aromas of spice, berry and lightly toasty oak. Medium- to full-bodied, with very fine tannins and a lovely finish. All in finesse. A mini-1996. Score range: 92-94 Review Date: June 2005

Montrose’s harvest occurred between September 24 and October 15, and an unusually high percentage (73%) of the production made it into the final blend. A blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it is a classic St.-Estephe offering a deep purple color, sweet, smoky, blackberry, blueberry, and cassis fruit, medium body, and zesty acidity.
