2009 Domaine Joseph et Philippe Roty Gevrey-Chambertin Les Fontenys 1er Cru

Good healthy dark red. Highly aromatic nose of cherry, raspberry and smoke. Sweet but juicy and gripping, with penetrating cherry/berry, game and licorice flavors supported by a firm spine of ripe tannins. More vibrant and nuanced than the Clos Prieur. A distinctly chewy premier cru with the structure to repay aging. Serious juice. Review Date: March 2012
