Opaque ruby. Smoke-accented cherry-cola, cassis and blueberry aromas, with hints of olive tapenade, violet and incense building with air. Plush, palate-coating and broad, with very good depth to its spicy dark berry and floral pastille flavors. Shows alluring sweetness on the finish, supported and shaped by velvety tannins. The 2010 Booker Red is another of the highlights in this lineup. A burst of dark red fruit leads to hints of anise, tobacco and spices, all of which fill out the wine’s broad-shouldered frame nicely. There is fabulous intensity in the fruit all the way through to a creamy, expansive finish laced with expressive floral notes. The blend is 44% Syrah, 32% Grenache and 24% Mourvedre. Matt Trevisan describes Booker as a slightly warmer site that generally receives a bit less rain than some other sites in Westside Paso Robles. (AG) Review Date: August 2012
