Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos du Fonteny 2011 has a more accomplished and complete nose compared to its peers in the flight, offering raspberry, briary, blackcurrant and mineral scents with a sense of confidence. The palate is medium-bodied with a pleasant, fleshy entry, well-judged acidity and clean and crisp strawberry and raspberry fruit. It finishes conservatively: linear and focused but without a peacock's tail that would garner a higher score. Review Date: November 2014
