An elegant, silky effort that shows the prettier side to variety, the 2011 Syrah Cinematique Larner Vineyard (co-fermented with 7% Viognier) delivers a perfumed, elegant profile with sweet black raspberry, licorice, underbrush, crushed flower and hints of pepper all soaring from the glass. Showing the vintage elegance and weight profile, with medium to full body, it flows onto the palate with a seamless texture, good (not great) mid-palate concentration and fine tannin framing the finish. It should benefit from 1-2 years in the cellar and drink beautifully through 2023. Drink 2014-2023. Paul Lato continues to knock it out of the park and I can’t say enough about the quality coming from this estate. Across the board, the wines show classic, varietally correct profiles that always show finesse and elegance, yet back it up with layers of fruit and texture. (JD) Review Date: August 2013
