In my opinion, the 2012 Pinot Noir Evening-Land La Côte is Sandhi's reference-point wine. Crushed flowers, savory herbs, sweet red berries and anise all waft from the glass. The La Côte, from a high-altitude parcel eight miles from the Pacific, boasts stunning textural finesse, silky tannins and expressive, nuanced aromatics. Rajar Parr and Sashi Moorman own and farm this parcel for their Domaine de la Côte label. Having control over all aspects of farming increases the odds of success and consistency.
