Bright straw-yellow. Reticent nose hints at menthol and white pepper. Then juicy and concentrated in the mouth, offering terrific verve and silky weight to the flavors of pineapple, grapefruit and white bread. The wine's insidious sweetness is perfectly buffered by strong acidity and a low pH. Very backward compared to the 2014 version, but wonderfully juicy and long. Review Date: March 2016
The 2013 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale has a more tertiary, slightly austere bouquet than the Chambolle-Musigny Villages with subtle floral aromas developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp and perhaps more structured than expected, with a dash of spice towards the finish that completes what is a wonderful Clos de la Maréchale from Frédéric Mugnier. Two words...load up. Review Date: January 2016
