The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Fairchild G-III, which is from a well-known Beckstoffer property in Rutherford, is heavenly juice. Seeing an extended maceration and 20 months in 80% new French oak, it boasts awesome notes of crème de cassis, blueberries, crushed rocks, and violets. This all flows to a blockbuster styled beauty that has fabulous purity, fine, silky tannins, and incredible opulence paired with purity and elegance. Review Date: January 2019
Aged for 20 months in 80% new 225-liter French oak barrels, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon G-III is deep garnet-purple in color, with a beautiful nose of crushed blackberries, redcurrants, black cherry compote and cassis with nuances of lilacs, fragrant earth, forest floor and black tea plus touches of menthol and coffee grounds. Full-bodied, rich, bold and super concentrated in the mouth, the palate features firm, grainy tannins and plenty of freshness to give a solid structure to all that fruit, finishing very long and very layered.
