2016 Jean-Luc Mader Riesling, Alsace

The 2016 Riesling is 100% from Hunawihr (from deep limestone and clay) and, in total, six different sites and plots harvested during in 10 days in 2016. The wine opens clear and nicely aromatic, with some smoky flavors along with white-stone fruit and lemon flavors. Round, yet dry and elegant, on the palate, this is a finessed and salty Riesling that reveals good freshness, grip and tension on the palate. Still a bit reductive, the 2016 will be even better after one year of bottle aging.
