2017 Jean Marc et Thomas Bouley Bourgogne Rouge

From vines on the southern side of the commune of Volnay, the 2017 Bourgogne Rouge is lovely, bursting with aromas of red berries, chocolate and spices. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, velvety and flavorful, with juicy acids and a generous core of fruit. Cropped at 40 hectoliters per hectare (a modest yield by the standards of the vintage and the appellation), it demonstrates what conscientious growers could achieve this year.
