2018 Barberani Orvieto Classico Superiore Castagnolo

"The 2018 Orvieto Classico Castagnolo, a blend of 70% Grechetto and 30% Trebbiano Procanico, is Barberani's entry-level Orvieto, yet there's nothing "entry-level" about this wine. Here I'm finding crushed yellow apple, offset by dusty florals, hints of olive and sage. Soft textures soothe the senses, while zesty acids and minerals add tension, and ripe orchard fruits and sweet spices resonate throughout. The finish is fresh, clean and mouthwatering, with a note of lime-infused Granny Smith apple slowly tapering off." - Eric Guido Review Date: June 2020
