2020 Enric Soler Xarel-lo Improvisacio Penedes

"2020 was a challenging year, not only because of the pandemic but also because the weather was unusually wet and warm. The 2020 Improvisació is pure Xarel.lo from three plots of vines ranging between 40 and 60 years of age on sandy, limestone-rich soil. It fermented with indigenous yeasts in 1,200- and 2,000-liter oak vats from Stockinger and some concrete eggs. This has 12.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.27 and 5.2 grams of acidity. It's a gentler, riper and rounder wine, approachable early on and easy to understand. It was a small crop, reduced by mildew. 3,780 bottles were filled in May 2021." - Luis Gutierrez Review Date: September 2022
