Winemaker’s Note: Deep reddish purple with aromas of bright berry/cherry fruit. Big body yet very balanced with luscious layers of raspberry, cherry, and cocoa flavors. Just a hint of baking spice at the end brings it all together. great companion to grilled or smoked meats. Pairs well with beef and pork, and even pizza with meat toppings.
Vinous: 90 points
Bright medium ruby. A touch of reduction to the aromas of blackberry, licorice, violet, bitter chocolate and minerals. Juicy and penetrating in a 2016 way but more fruity and spicy than green. And sweeter than the Natural Malbec-Syrah without any loss of precision or energy. Offers good density without heaviness and finishes with positive tannic grip. This is very successful for the vintage, conveying the energy of the year without notes of rot or pronounced greenness.
